The OPG registration fee is separate. Every LPA must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian, which charges a statutory fee of £92.00 per LPA (effective 17 November 2025) when you post your signed forms. This fee goes to the government, not SmartLPA.
You may pay less, or nothing. If the donor’s gross annual income is under £12,000, a 50% reduction applies (£46 per LPA). If the donor receives certain means-tested benefits, the fee may be waived entirely (£0) using form LPA120, submitted with the LPA at registration. We’ll help you check — this is an estimate, and the OPG decides based on your application and supporting evidence.
